Review: Paddington the Movie – Delightful

[schema type=”movie” url=”http://youtu.be/qFuzMlfZGWM” name=” Paddington the Movie” description=”The delightful Christmas movie featuring Paddington Bear who decides to visit London from Darkest Peru. Filmed all over London. It’s a great family movie for this Christmas” director=”Paul King (” producer=”David Heyman” actor_1=”Hugh Bonneville” actor_2=”Sally Hawkins” actor_3=”Julie Walters” actor_4=”Nicole Kidman” ]

Michael Bond’s Paddington Bear comes to live on screen in this delightful film. Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins plays the hapless parents who find Paddington in the Paddington Station when he arrives in London. He lived in “Darkest Peru” with his Aunty Lucy and was inspired by an English explorer to visit London. Of course nothing goes to plan. He doesn’t know anyone and London was not the friendly as the explorer had painted.

There is a lot of British wit, some eccentricities and it’s totally charming. Absolutely loved Mr Gruber’s toy train that delivers freshly brewed tea for elevenses. And of course good triumphs over bad, so they all live happily ever after.

Ben Whishaw (Q in the Bond films) does the voice for Paddington really brings him to life. Nicole Kidman is the baddie taxidermist who wants to stuff Paddington for the Natural History Museum.

This was filmed all over London. The Brown’s house is obviously in Notting Hill and if it’s not famous enough, the antique shop is in Portobello Road. This does a great job in showcasing London’s diversity and using a Cuban Calypso band in scenes is a bit of a disconnect but oh so London. It does a great job of showing London off in a romantic light starting with the night time taxi ride through the sights of London.

All over London, you will find these colourful Paddington statues along the #PaddingtonTrail. They will all be auctioned off for charity and if you share a lot of images on social media, you might win a prize.
