The London Restaurant Festival is in full swing in the capital now, from the 4th to 18th October. There are lots of special events going on and a lot of London restaurants are having special deals and menus. This is the second year of the festival and it is getting busier and busier. This Sunday, American Express is holding a 10-10-10 event where
“20 of the UK’s most celebrated chefs cast aside their creative competitiveness and work side-by-side to create 10 never-eaten-before collaborative Sunday lunch menus.”
In Covent Garden, a couple of chefs have taken a slightly different route. They have set up a food truck in the Piazza serving great locally sourced food to the masses. This is great as London does not have that many great food trucks, not counting the greasy burger ones at shows and events.
Jun Tanaka of Pearl Restaurant and Mark Jankel, founder of the Food Initiative, decided to do do something original and cooking gourmet food to have on the go. It is a triumph as business has been booming. I tried the Salmon with beetroot and horseradish which was delicious.
Try and catch them before they leave. Street Kitchen can be found on the Piazza closest to the Royal Opera House.
